Recapture is a single-player based event drawing mechanics from Marathon, Rare Boss and United Front Extra Ops. The player helps the featured faction reclaim lost items from the enemy, which in turn can be given to them for various rewards.
Similarly to Task Force Extra Ops, Recapture Extra Ops only features a Super Rare unit acquired from playing the Extra Ops. Like Task Force and United Front Extra Ops, the bosses become significantly more useful if their unique skill 5 items are applied for them.
During the time Recapture is activate, participating in a stage will yield the player a Reward Up item.
Gameplay[]
Recapture initially plays off like a Marathon Extra Ops - three difficulties are offered, with 10 levels in each difficulty. Clearing the boss stage in that difficulty unlocks the next difficulty in line. Harder stages require a bit more sorties, but cost the same amount as Rare Boss Extra Ops.
Like Marathon Extra Ops, the first difficulty provides players with parts for the featured Extra Ops unit, while the second and third offer 30 and 50 medals for clearing the stage for the first time. There is no S-Clear bonus, however.
The rewards table is a modified variant of the Marathon rewards table - only 300 medals are available, with the last ten being replaced with a single Medal Crank key. The boss' gold frame is unlocked at 500,000 points, with the remaining 150 parts having to be bought via trading system. Only silver, gold and skill 4 platinum items are offered on the Recapture rewards table. The boss' skill 5 items must be brought through trading, although this makes them significantly cheaper than other bosses.
Large Battlefields[]
Similarly to Rare Boss Extra Ops, some units also have a boss multiplier that increases the chances of running into large battlefields, working on the same level as with said Ops. They can be obtained manually or through raiding, in which the raid chain will stop if triggered. The Super Rare premium will yell one of three quotes as an indicator to tell the player which battlefield is active.
There are three large battlefields, containing nine different enemies. Enemies that are eligible for Status Strengthening Items do not have any applied on them, much like in P.O.W. Rescue.

When starting a large battlefield attempt, the requesting faction will help along, utilizing a deck the player creates. Experts can be applied to either deck for additional points, so it is recommended to place the experts on the AI deck instead for superior manual control.
The partner's deck can be tailored as needed; as AI-controlled, it can be instructed to send or prevent specific units from being deployed. The support system of both decks can be changed as needed before the battle starts. Support options are not available during the stage, similarly to an AI PT/UB run.
In battle, the AI can be instructed to deploy units in three different manners:
- Auto - plays as normal
- Conserve - deploys as little as possible, building up AP
- All-out - send units as fast as possible without regard to AP levels
There is no time limit to clear a large battlefield stage, and it will not disappear if the player loses. When the stage is cleared, two rewards are obtained; common "trophy of war" rewards (the rewards as that difficulty's boss stage), and stolen goods which may be given to the faction representative for rewards. All three types of goods may be obtained from any stage, but each stage specializes in a specific stolen good and will reward more of that compared to another stage.
Trade[]
The faction representative will have various rewards to offer in return for the stolen goods, in a manner similar to United Front Extra Ops.
- Medals - 80 medals can be obtained each day, resetting at 12:00 JST.
- SR Unit - 150 parts of the introduced Extra Ops unit and 3 skill 5 items
- Other units
- Status Strengthening Items - 5 of each type
- Assorted items - ten batches of 10,000,000 MSP and various support items
- Limitless - small batches of MSP
