Search & Destroy is a guild-based event type in which members battle through stages towards the center of a map. As with its predecessor, Try Line, each stage features an enemy "boss" unit with a large amount of health. Guild members co-operate in order to clear all stages, gather supplies, and locate the Hidden Boss.

While Search & Destroy yields better rewards than Try Line and also offers the ability to get the boss unit cheaper than Try Line, there is less coordination and fully upgrading and equipping the boss' teammate is just as expensive as doing the same for the Try Line boss itself.

Gameplay[]

Players are presented with 81 stages arranged throughout a square grid. There are four paths - "Easy", "Normal", "Hard", and "Hell" - each 20 stages long, and each leading to the Last Boss in the center. Stages consist of a "boss" unit with occasional spawns of assisting enemies. The difficulty of each path affects the enemy's strength and health: Easy stage enemies have no skills unlocked, Normal enemies have one, Hard have two and Hell have three. The Last boss has all four skills unlocked.

Players can choose to use from 30 to 150 Sortie Points to attempt a level, granting that many seconds to attack the boss there. The first time each boss is defeated, the next stage on the path becomes available, and the guild gains a slight damage bonus to all subsequent attacks. The total bonus is +100% once all stages along all paths have been beaten.

Stages can be beaten multiple times, and a technical bonus applies if the boss has less health than its maximum health; for example, if a boss has 60,000,000 health left (with a maximum of 90,000,000), then the technical bonus applies and the boss will have 60,000,000 health when the stage is attempted again. Players cannot deal damage over the boss' maximum health. The technical bonus also adds +50% coins as a reward for manually attempting the stage.

The raid option for Guild Ops events works differently to single-player Extra Ops: every 10 sorties invested into a stage takes away 2% of the boss' maximum health - 30% with the maximum amount of 150 sorties. Killing a boss by raiding furthermore withholds any technical bonus.

Individual players gain 150 Guild Ops Coins for every 10 sorties spent (plus bonuses, such as those from Expert Units or Reward Ups). Coins can be spent in the Guild Ops Shop to unlock a Rare unit, and also to earn Medals, MSP, avatar icons, and other rewards. The Hidden Boss boss alone offers 180 coins per ten sorties.

Players also gain shared rewards for all of their guild members by collecting Supplies, and Super Rare boss unit parts for themselves by defeating the Hidden Boss.

If multiple Guild members target the same stage, they may opt to have an AI fight alongside them using one of their associate's decks. The health of the enemies remains as normal, so the fight can be significantly sped up depending on what units the other guild member's decks consists of. The AI-controlled guild member's units do not benefit from chain and possession damage bonuses. A "Good Job!" may be given to the chosen guild member as a compliment, and playing in this manner works towards Friendship Bonuses.

Like its predecessor, Try Line, players cannot leave a guild during the duration of the Extra Ops. Players not in a guild may opt to join a temporary guild to participate if desired, although these temporary guilds are unreliable for claiming rewards.

Shops[]

There are two shops in Search & Destroy - the main shop and the used shop.

Main Shop[]

This Main Shop is where players buy parts of the Rare unit introduced in the Extra Ops and items to equip both it and the boss, alongside most of what Try Line used to stock.

Supplies[]

In addition to the rewards individual players can gain for themselves through the Guild Ops Shop or by defeating the Hidden Boss, shared guild rewards can be earned by gathering supplies from other stages. Each provides some number of these every time their boss is defeated. The stages at the edges provide the least amount of supplies, while the ones closer to the center provide more. Crates, Barrels and Treasure Boxes are the lone exception; for Crates and Barrels, the harder difficulty provides the most supplies, while the Last Boss provides a random amount of boxes ranging from 1-30.

Supplies may be gathered in any order, but the prizes for achieving a given milestone aren't awarded until all previous goals have also been met. In particular, any Treasure Boxes earned by fighting the Last Boss are worthless until 1,800 Mushrooms & Apples, 1,500 Bananas, as well as 1,300 Pigs & Barrels & Wooden Boxes, have all been collected first.

To obtain all rewards, players must obtain 4,800 Mushrooms & Apples, 4,000 Bananas, as well as 3,500 Pigs, Barrels, Wooden Boxes, and Treasure Boxes. Meeting the required maximum supplies of each type will yield a total of 1,300 medals for all guild members.

Supply Source
Mushroom Easy stages
Apple Normal stages
Banana Hard stages
Pig Hell stages
Barrel Final stages of Easy / Normal
Wooden Box Final stages of Hard / Hell
Treasure Box Last Boss

Hidden Boss[]

Each day, starting at midnight (JST, GMT+9), the Hidden Boss is placed under a randomized stage and must be uncovered as part of a shared activity. Any member who happens to play the correct stage will unveil the Hidden Boss, after which it's available for all members to fight until the next day. Beating an incorrect stage provides a ~5% chance of a hint indicating which rows and columns do *not* contain the boss, along with a 3,000 bonus - but primarily, members need to co-ordinate via chat to ensure they're not checking the same stages.

Each member may then fight the boss in return for limited-time Super Rare unit parts. Individual players can only fight the boss up to twenty (20) times a day, although each time its defeated in gains in power - growing from 50,000,000 up to 2,000,000,000 hit points. Defeating it twenty (20) times within a single day provides seventy (70) parts, although lower daily kill counts can still bring the Super Rare prize to platinum level. Originally players had to beat the boss fifty (50) times to get the parts, but was changed in Search & Destroy 2nd.

Boss HP nerfed to start form 20,000,000 for Search & Destroy 2nd onward.

The boss grants a base rate of 180 Guild Ops Coins per 10 Sortie PointsSortie Points spent to fight it (as opposed to the 150 coins from all other stages), but it doesn't offer any supplies. This is particularly useful for players seeking to capitalize the most on their sorties with low coin bonus rates.

Friendship Bonus[]

The friendship bonus allows guild members to tackle a stage with another guild member (albeit AI controlled). If the player opted to fight together, the result will be counted towards the friendship bonus.

Once a friendship bonus bar is filled, one of the following rewards may be given:

  • (Nothing documented yet, but supplies seem to be on the list)
