The Blaze Brigade takes over a town and are met with a flood of their own zombies. Nantes is accompanying Loretta for the mission and tries to call for reinforcements, but Loretta turns down her request, as she does not want Allen Platoon to assist the Blaze Brigade, feeling that she would be unworthy as Grazia's second-in-command if she had to rely on others. Nantes asks Loretta if they can handle the situation themselves, and the Blaze Brigade officer is confident they are capable of doing so.
Following an intelligence report, they are led to a cave where the first zombie soldiers were reported. As they investigate, a mysterious voice prods into their minds and offers them information to become stronger. Nantes succumbs to the influence, prompting Loretta to order her troops forward and smack sense into anyone who gets distracted as they burn the source down.
Navy calls Loretta, having detected an artefact in the caves they are in and requests they bring it back, as it has the wisdom of humanity. She refuses, as Navy has no authority to change the objective of their mission. The mysterious voice asks who would save it and close the gate. Loretta interprets this as it to do whatever it wishes to the nearby land, and that she doesn't like the offer unless she's giving it. She then states that outsiders are not welcome in Blaze Brigade territory, prompting the voice to accept its fate. As the influence fades, Nantes snaps back to normal as Loretta reminds her that as much as she can strengthen herself, she would be nowhere near as strong as Allen, much to her disappointment.
Loretta returns to base and delivers her report to Grazia, who is praises her second-in-command's work. Loretta is humbled by her superior's praise as Norah observes the two. Grazia then tells Loretta that she received a phone call from a furious Navy, asking her what it was about. Loretta dismisses it as one of Navy's mood swings, so Grazia simply decides not to answer back. As she leaves, Loretta states that it was best to deny the artefact, as despite all the knowledge it possessed, humanity would not benefit from it.
