United Front the 16th is the one hundred and thirty-eighth Extra Ops introduced in Metal Slug Attack.

Story

Dragunov and Yoshino discuss about the failures of the new applicants for Caroline's test, despite having removed all the ineligible ones at first so that only the right people could start the test. Yoshino is able to understand how Caroline feels, surprising Dragunov.

Elsewhere, Caroline and Towa are also upset because the lack of another assistant means that they'll have to be working again. Towa admits that she would have failed the questions too, and asks her to tell the truth. Caroline tells her that she is just worried about the newcomer's personality and that if they give them a bad impression, no one would want to work with them. Towa asks why she won't do an interview, though Caroline interprets this incorrectly and runs off to improve the machine.

Sometime later, Dragunov introduces Phoebe to Caroline and Towa, the only applicant who has passed their test. Caroline is still worried while Towa is finally glad to get some sleep. Phoebe introduces herself a bit too seriously, so Caroline has her pilot the "D-001 Tanbal". Dragunov tries to warn the pair about Phoebe, though the two mechanics overcarry and express a desire to put the D-001 Tanbal in an actual fight. Much to their surprise, Phoebe runs out with the machine to test it. Caroline is amazed, though Dragunov immediately reprimands her for the half-joke she was trying to warn them that Phoebe takes everything seriously.

Phoebe attacks a Martian base, and is excited to see everyone from all corners of the world participate in the battle. The Martians in turn prepare their defenses.

The Martians retreat, and Phoebe obtains information that she believes will satisfy Caroline. As she reports back in, Caroline hugs her, apologizing for having sent her off on a near suicidal mission. Phoebe tells her it doesn't matter, and shows her the information. Caroline and Towa are also surprised that Phoebe repaired the D-001 Tanbal herself; Phoebe also gives Caroline her United Coins. Caroline runs off to the shop to purchase items, leaving Towa to deal with Phoebe. Towa tells Phoebe that she shouldn't have to comply to everything Caroline says, but Phoebe states that she is able to complete the job regardless and addresses her as "Lady" Caroline, much to Towa's surprise.
