The Martians return to Earth, with two Mars People Cadre angered with how wasteful the humans are with their golden garbage. However, they soon spot Invaders in the vicinity and flee.
Elsewhere, Odette shows off her new wings, much to Nowan's disgust as they wonder why she decided to grow some wings. Annette quickly silences Nowan, as Odette took the effort to make these wings and Annette won't let them ruin her younger sister's fun. Annette reminds Odette of their mission, as they are on Earth to investigate some new golden weapons.
Odette finishes up her investigation and concludes that golden units have increased combat capabilities, and because everyone is fighting over them, they too also become good combatants. Annette decides to head to the United Front shop before it closes, as they're also expected to report back soon, although she asks Odette what she would like to do first. Odette wishes to play with the feathered character in the book (the inspiration for her wings). Nowan attempts to tell her that they are fictional characters; Annette tries to silence them, but Odette already heard the word "fictional" and becomes disappointed. However, Annette promises Odette that they'll go to the place the winged character was in the future.
