United Front the 42nd is the two hundred and seventy-eighth Extra Ops introduced in Metal Slug Attack.

Story

Cocatrix heads out into the forest to get some new ideas for her next show, having snuck out and far away from the circus to prevent Bunny or the others from taking her back. Cocatrix walks around to a more settled area where she runs into a woman in Eastern attire and holding a fan. The woman gets Cocatrix's attention; as she walks towards her, the woman uses her fans to generate a barrier, but Cocatrix easily bypasses it.

The woman notes that Cocatrix is skilled before Cocatrix introduces herself to her. Cocatrix asks if their magic is the same. The woman corrects her, stating that she is using warding and introduces herself as Hisui. Cocatrix asks Hisui to teach her warding, but she has no interest in doing so as she doesn't want pointless fights. In response, Cocatrix sets off an announcer which alerts a horde of Golden Walkers and a Golden Trolley to their location as a United Front is activated. Hisui remarks that Cocatrix enjoys danger and agrees to help as long as she helps her with her own matters before the two charge at the golden weaponry.

After clearing up the enemy, both women compliment each others' skills. The battle gave enough inspiration for Cocatrix to set up her next show and she offers her a position at the Mirage Circus. Hisui is interested in the offer but states that she's looking for a friend before she senses something and runs off. Another figure comes in, soon revealed to be Bunny who asks Hisui if Cocatrix was around. Hisui slyly dodges the question, causing Bunny to rapidly search through the wreckage before Cocatrix descends from above. Cocatrix tells her that she shouldn't worry about her own strength, although Bunny was more concerned about her inexplicably leaving without informing the others. The two then leave in a puff of smoke.

Before completely leaving, Cocatrix thanks Hisui and asks her to continue supporting the Mirage Circus. She also drops two tickets to the circus for her, which she takes. Hisui then remarks that she would go to the circus once she had found her friend, revealed to be Ichima.
